Victoria Bensimon Maharaj will begin her sixth year as an assistant coach with the Cleveland State women’s tennis team during the 2022-23 season.  

During her five years on the CSU coaching staff Bensimon Maharaj has helped the Vikings post an overall winning record, including a 27-9 mark in regular season Horizon League matches, while also mentoring seven All-League honorees - including the 2021 Horizon League Player of the Year, Miruna Vasilescu and the 2022 Horizon League Freshman of the Year, Oihane Vicario.

Following the 2018-19 season, Bensimon Maharaj was named the ITA Midwest Regional Assistant Coach of the Year after helping the Vikings to a share of the Horizon League Regular Season title and a spot in the Horizon League Tournament Championship match. 

A native of Cocoa Beach, Florida, Bensimon Maharaj played her collegiate tennis at Cleveland State, where she was a two-time Horizon League honoree. 

During her collegiate career, Bensimon Maharaj helped the Vikings capture three Horizon League Regular Season Championships during 2014, 2016 and 2017, and finished her time in the green and white ranked in the top-10 in career singles and doubles wins. 

Bensimon Maharaj, who was a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, earned her bachelor’s degree in health sciences and psychology in 2017. She currently resides in downtown Cleveland with her husband, Visnu, an assistant coach for the Cleveland State men’s soccer team.
