Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Closes Regular Season With 6-1 Victory At Oakland

BLOOMFIELD TWP., Mich. - The Cleveland State women's tennis team closed out regular season play Saturday, picking up a 6-1 victory at Oakland. With the win, the Vikings finish regular season play with a 13-9 overall record and a 5-1 mark against Horizon League opponents.

The Vikings were able to earn the early 1-0 advantage after picking up the doubles point, earning wins from Sima Heren/Oihane Vicario at the top of the lineup (6-1) and Filippa Frogner/Selma Tounsi at the No. 3 spot (6-0).

Cleveland State carried its momentum into singles play then, as Frogner quickly gave the Vikings a 2-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles, before Ella Franz put the score at 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 5 spot.

Vicario then posted the clinching point for the Vikings at No. 1 singles, earning a 6-4, 6-4 win, to remain perfect in #HLTennis singles play.

Cleveland State was able to add on two additional singles points then, as Bethany Yauch notched a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles and Heren posted a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(7) at the No. 2 spot.

The Vikings will now turn their focus to the Horizon League Tournament, with a seed and matchup to be determined.
