Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Hosts Buffalo & Xavier

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will open the month of March at home this weekend, hosting buffalo on Friday, March 1 and Xavier on Saturday, March 2. 

The Vikings enter the weekend with a 6-4 record on the year, most recently picking up a 4-0 victory over St. Bonaventure for their first sweep of the season. 

Earlier this week, Cleveland State swept the Horizon League weekly awards for the fourth time this season, with Tereze Vevere picking up Singles Player of the Week honors and Vevere and Ella Franz combining for Doubles Team of the Week accolades.

Vevere is one of three Vikings with 14+ singles wins on the season, as she currently stands at 14-8 on the year, while Sima Heren and Oihane Vicario are both 15-6 overall. In dual matches only, Heren and Vicario both have a team-best seven wins, while Vevere enters Friday's match with six singles wins this spring. 

In doubles, Vevere and Franz have a team-best 17-3 record on the year after going 2-0 against Western Michigan and St. Bonaventure last weekend, while Heren and Bethany Yauch sit at 15-8 overall this season. 

Vevere and Franz moved into fourth place on the CSU Doubles Wins List with 33 wins as a duo, while Heren and Yauch moved into sixth place with 28 victories as a doubles team. 

This weekend's matches will close out a five-match homestand for the Vikings, with Cleveland State hitting the road for the two weeks of play, returning to the MMTP on Friday, March 22.
