Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Sweeps #HLTennis Weekly Awards For Fourth Time This Season

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the third straight week – and the fourth time this season – the Cleveland State women's tennis team has swept the weekly Horizon League awards, with Tereze Vevere earning Singles Player of the Week honors and Vevere and Ella Franz being named the Doubles Team of the Week. This marks the first weekly singles honor of the season for Vevere, while it's the second weekly honor for Vevere and Franz as a doubles team.

Last time out, Vevere and Franz helped Cleveland State to a 1-1 record, including a 4-0 sweep over St. Bonaventure. Cleveland State is currently 6-4 on the season, and will open the month of March inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion with two matches this weekend (vs. Buffalo-3/1, vs. Xavier-3/2).

In singles, Vevere went 1-1 at the No. 3 spot, improving to 14-8 on the year and 6-4 this spring. Against St. Bonaventure, Vevere posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory, helping the Vikings earn their first sweep of the season.

In doubles, Vevere and Franz went 2-0 on the week at No. 3 doubles, helping the Vikings pick up the early 1-0 lead in both matches. The duo earned matching 6-1 wins against Western Michigan and St. Bonaventure, improving to a team-best 17-3 on the season and 7-1 this spring.

As a tandem, Vevere and Franz rank fourth on the CSU Doubles Wins List with 33 career wins as a doubles team.
