Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Splits Doubleheader Against Western Michigan & St. Bonaventure

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team split its doubleheader Saturday, picking up a 4-0 victory over St. Bonaventure and dropping a hard-fought 4-3 match against Western Michigan.

Against St. Bonaventure, the Vikings were able to pick up the doubles point with wins from Sima Heren/Bethany Yauch (6-0) at No. 1 doubles and Tereze Vevere/Ella Franz (6-1) at the No. 3 spot.

Vevere then gave Cleveland State a 2-0 lead with a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles, while Oihane Vicario put the Vikings up 3-0 with a 6-4, 6-1 win at the top of the lineup.

Mikaela Konstantinova clinched the match for the Vikings at No. 6 singles then, posting a 6-2, 6-1 victory in her first singles match of the spring season.

Against Western Michigan, the Vikings were able to pick up the doubles point yet again, with Filippa Frogner/Selma Tounsi (7-6(2)) earning the win at No. 2 doubles, while Vevere/Franz picked up a 6-1 win at the No. 3 spot.

Cleveland State's two singles wins came at the bottom of the lineup then, as Franz earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles and Frogner picked up a 2-6, 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 6 spot.

Following today's matches, the Vikings are now 6-4 on the season.

Cleveland State will close out its current homestand next weekend, hosting Buffalo on Friday, March 1 and Xavier on Saturday, March 2.
