Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Set To Host Western Michigan & St. Bonaventure

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team will continue its spring slate this weekend, hosting Western Michigan and St. Bonaventure in a doubleheader on Saturday, February 24. The Vikings will take on Western Michigan at 10:00 a.m. and St. Bonaventure at 5:00 p.m. inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.

This weekend's matches will be part of a five-match homestand for the Vikings.

Last time out, the Vikings picked up a 6-1 victory over Bowling Green, marking their first win at the MMTP this season.

Sima Heren picked up a 6-1, 3-1, ret. victory at No. 2 singles against the Falcons, marking the 50th singles win of her college career. Heren became the fourth active Viking to reach the milestone and 20th in program history.

This season, Heren has a team-best 15-5 record, including a 7-1 mark this spring, while Oihane Vicario has 14 singles wins on the year and Tereze Vevere owns 13.

In doubles, Vevere and Ella Franz earned a 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot, improving to a team-best 15-3 on the year and holding onto their fifth place ranking on the CSU Doubles Wins List with 31 wins as a tandem.

Earlier this week, the Vikings swept the Horizon League weekly awards, as Vicario was named the Singles Player of the Week and Selma Tounsi/Filippa Frogner were named the Doubles Team of the Week. This marked the third time this season that Cleveland State has swept the weekly awards, with Vicario and Heren both earning singles accolades and Heren/Bethany Yauch, Vevere/Franz and Tounsi/Frogner all earning doubles team honors.
