Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Sweeps #HLTennis Weekly Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - For the second straight week - and the third time this season - the Cleveland State women's tennis team has swept the weekly Horizon League awards, with Oihane Vicario picking up Singles Player of the Week honors and Selma Tounsi/Filippa Frogner being named the Doubles Team of the Week. This marks the second weekly award for Vicario this season, while Tounsi & Frogner are picking up their first weekly accolade.

Last time out, this trio led Cleveland State to a 6-1 victory over Bowling Green, improving to 5-3 overall this spring.

"This is a well deserved honor for all three, especially after the hard work that they have been putting in over the last few weeks," head coach Frank Polito said. "Oihane has been bringing her hard hat and lunchbox to work every day, and she continues to play solid matches every time we are on the court. Selma and Filippa are starting to get back to their form, with Filippa anchoring the doubles spot all year and Selma playing better and better since returning to action."

In singles, Vicario picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win at the top of the lineup, representing the clinching point in the 6-1 victory over Bowling Green. Vicario now has a 14-5 record on the year, including a 6-2 mark this spring.

In doubles, Tounsi and Frogner picked up a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles against Bowling Green, helping the Vikings clinch the doubles point against the Falcons. This marked the first win of the spring season for the tandem, after not playing much as a duo over the first weeks due to injury.
