Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Continues Spring Slate Against West Virginia & Radford

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will continue the spring slate this weekend, traveling to West Virginia on Saturday, February 10 and facing Radford in a neutral site match on Sunday, February 11. 

Trio Of Vikings With Double-Digit Wins
Entering the weekend three Vikings have 10+ singles wins on the season, including Sima Heren and Oihane Vicario who both have a team-best 12 singles wins. In addition, Tereze Vevere has 11 victories on the singles court, with this trio combining for an 11-4 record so far this spring.  

…Heren Closing In On 50 Career Singles Wins
Sima Heren enters the weekend just three wins shy of 50 singles wins for her career, currently owning 47 victories. Heren, who would become the fourth active Viking to reach the milestone (Bethany Yauch, Tereze Vevere, Oihane Vicario), has won seven out of her last nine matches dating back to the fall season.  

Heren & Yauch Add To Win Total
After going 2-0 at No. 1 doubles against Toledo and Eastern Michigan last weekend, Sima Heren and Bethany Yauch now have a team-best 13-5 record on the year. As a duo, Heren and Yauch have combined for 26 wins on their careers, currently ranking seventh on the CSU Doubles Wins List. 

Looking Ahead…
Cleveland State will return to the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion next week, hosting Bowling Green on Friday, February 16 in the Vikings' lone contest of the weekend.  

Head Coach Frank Polito
Frank Polito is in his sixth year at the helm of the Vikings and his 12th year overall at Cleveland State, owning a 63-47 dual match record as head coach. During Polito's tenure, the Vikings have captured four Regular Season Horizon League titles and have made three #HLTennis Championship Match appearances.
