INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2024 Horizon League Women's Tennis Preseason Poll was released Thursday afternoon, with Cleveland State tabbed as the preseason favorite in the competitive seven-team field. The preseason poll is voted on by the league's head coaches. 

This marks the first time that the Vikings were selected at the top of the preseason poll, while it marks the fifth time that Cleveland State has been tabbed to finish in the top-two. 

Cleveland State returns seven of eight letterwinners from last season's team that advanced to the championship match of the Horizon League Tournament, including Horizon League Player of the Year Oihane Vicario and All-League honorees Sima Heren, Tereze Vevere and Bethany Yauch. 

The Vikings are under the direction of sixth-year head coach Frank Polito, who guided CSU to a 15-win season last year, and helped the Vikings to their fifth #HLTennis championship appearance. 

Cleveland State will open the 2024 spring campaign next weekend when the Vikings travel to Valparaiso on Saturday, January 20, while the six-match Horizon League slate will begin in late March.
