Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Sweeps #HLTennis Weekly Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After closing out regular season play with a victory over Oakland last time out, the Cleveland State women's tennis team has swept the Horizon League weekly awards, with Oihane Vicario being named the Singles Player of the Week and Bethany Yauch and Sima Heren earning Doubles Team of the Week honors. 

This marks the fourth time this season that the Vikings have swept the weekly awards, with Vicario claiming her league-leading fifth Singles Player of the Week honor and Yauch/Heren earning their league-leading third Doubles Team of the Week accolade. 

Last time out, the Vikings picked up a 6-1 victory over Oakland in the regular season finale, entering #HLTennis Tournament play as the No. 2 seed and on a five-match win streak. 

Vicario notched her seventh straight singles win with a 6-1, 6-1 decision at No. 1 singles against Oakland, improving to 19-14 on the year and 14-7 at the top of the lineup. In addition, Vicario finished regular season play with a perfect 6-0 record against #HLTennis opponents. 

Heren and Yauch helped the Vikings secure the doubles point against Oakland, picking up a 6-2 victory at the top spot. With the win, the duo improved to 13-6 overall this year, and 12-6 when playing at No. 1 doubles.
