Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Earns 5-2 Victory At Northern Kentucky

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team closed out its final roadtrip of the regular season with a win on Sunday, picking up a 5-2 victory at Northern Kentucky. With the win, the Vikings are now 13-7 overall this year and 4-1 in Horizon League play.

After dropping the doubles point for the first time in #HLTennis play, the Vikings responded with a win at No. 2 singles, as Bethany Yauch posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory to even the match at 1-1.

The Norse then picked up a win at No. 5 singles, before Cleveland State once again evened the match at 2-2 following a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory from Ella Franz at No. 6 singles.

Oihane Vicario then gave the Vikings their first lead of the match, posting a 6-7(8), 6-4, 6-3 win at the top of the lineup to put the score at 3-2. With her win, Vicario remained perfect against league opponents, improving to 5-0 on the year.

Cleveland State's clinching point came from Tereze Vevere at No. 3 singles, as she earned a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 win to improve to a team-best 21-12 overall this year.

Sima Heren added on another point to close out the match, as she posted a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 spot to put the final score at 5-2 Cleveland State.

The Vikings will close out the regular season next weekend, hosting Oakland on Saturday, April 22.
