Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Picks Up 5-2 Victory At IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued its winning ways on Saturday, picking up a 5-2 victory at IUPUI. With the win, the Vikings are now 12-7 overall this year and 3-1 in Horizon League matches.

For the fourth straight match, the Vikings were able to pick up the early doubles point, as Oihane Vicario and Filippa Frogner earned a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles and Tereze Vevere and Ella Franz picked up a 6-1 victory at the No. 3 spot. Cleveland State has now won the doubles point in all four #HLTennis matches so far this season.

Cleveland State then quickly added to its lead to begin singles play, as Sima Heren posted a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles and Avery Durham earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 5 spot to gain a 3-0 advantage for the match.

The Vikings then clinched the match at the top of the lineup, as Vicario earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory to remain perfect in #HLTennis singles matches at 4-0 on the year.

Bethany Yauch added another singles win on the day, as she battled for a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(6) victory at No. 2 singles.

Cleveland State will close out the weekend at Northern Kentucky tomorrow, with first serve set for 9:30 a.m.
