Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Earns 6-1 Victory Over Dayton

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team closed out the non-league portion of its schedule Saturday, picking up a 6-1 victory over Dayton. With the win, the Vikings improve to 9-6 overall this season.

Cleveland State was able to pick up the early doubles point against the Flyers, picking up wins at the top-two spots. Bethany Yauch and Sima Heren earned a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, while Filippa Frogner and Selma Tousni earned a 6-2 victory at the No. 2 spot.

Tereze Vevere then gave the Vikings a 2-0 lead with a win at No. 3 singles, as she notched a 6-3, 6-3 win for her team-leading 19th singles win of the season.

Cleveland State added to its lead with a 7-6(5), 6-2 victory from Oihane Vicario at the top of the singles lineup, before Frogner clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.

The Vikings added two more points at the No. 4 and No. 6 spots then, as Heren earned a 6-1, 7-6(2) victory at No. 4 singles and Tounsi closed out a 7-5, 1-6, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot.

With her win at No. 4 singles, Heren now has a team-best 11-4 singles record during dual match play.

Cleveland State will open Horizon League play on the road next weekend, traveling to Youngstown State on Saturday, April 1.
