Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Continues Spring Slate Against West Virginia & Howard

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team will continues its 2023 spring slate with a pair of matches this weekend, traveling to Morgantown, W. Va. to face West Virginia on Saturday, March 4 and Howard on Sunday, March 5.

Cleveland State enters the weekend on a mini two-match win streak, picking up wins at Buffalo (4-3) and St. Bonaventure (7-0) last time out. The win over the Bulls marked the first in program history, while the sweep of the Bonnies marked the third of the season for the Vikings. 

This weekend's matches will close out a six-match roadswing for the Vikings, as they have been playing away from home for the last four weeks. The matches will also mark the first and second of just three matches during the month of March, with Cleveland State's final match during the month coming on Saturday, March 25 when the Vikings host Dayton inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.  

Last time out, the trio of Filippa Frogner, Sima Heren and Oihane Vicario all went 2-0 in singles play, with all three Vikings now owning double-digit singles wins on the year. 

Bethany Yauch got one win closer to reaching 50 for her career last weekend, as she picked up a win against St. Bonaventure to mark win No. 48 during her time at Cleveland State. 

CSU had a strong doubles performance last time out, picking up the early point in both matches, as the Vikings have now captured the doubles point in 10 of their 12 matches so far this season. 

Cleveland State's top doubles team of Sima Heren and Yauch were honored as the Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week on Wednesday, picking up their first weekly honor of the season. The duo went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles last time out, improving to 7-4 at the top of the lineup this spring.
