Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Falls To Butler, 4-3

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team dropped a hard-fought match on Sunday, falling in a 4-3 decision to Butler. The Vikings now stand at 5-2 on the young season.

For the seventh straight match the Vikings were able to pick up the early doubles point, as a 6-4 win from Bethany Yauch and Sima Heren at the top of the lineup and a 6-3 win from Selma Tounsi and Filippa Frogner at No. 2 doubles put Cleveland State up 1-0.

Frogner then quickly gave the Vikings a 2-0 advantage at the start of singles play, as she earned a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.

Despite Butler picking up a win at No. 5 singles, the Vikings responded with a 6-2, 6-4 victory from Heren at the No. 4 spot, putting the score at 3-1 Cleveland State.

Butler then answered with wins on the final three singles courts, coming away with the 4-3 victory.

Cleveland State will continue its spring campaign next weekend, hosting Ball State on Friday, February 10 and traveling to Western Michigan on Sunday, February 12.
