Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Sweeps #HLTennis Weekly Awards

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After a strong first weekend of the 2023 spring season, the Cleveland State women's tennis team has swept the Horizon League Weekly Awards, as Bethany Yauch has been named the Singles Player of the Week and Filippa Frogner and Selma Tounsi have earned Doubles Team of the Week honors.

Last weekend, the Vikings went 1-1 to open the dual match season, including a 5-2 victory over Valparaiso in the 2023 spring and home opener.

Yauch played at the No. 2 singles spot during the weekend, posting a 1-1 record. To open the weekend, Yauch earned a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 victory against Valparaiso, improving to 8-6 on the year.

In doubles, Frogner and Tounsi went 2-0 on the weekend at No. 2 doubles, helping Cleveland State pick up the doubles point in both matches. The duo earned a 6-2 win against Valparaiso in the season opener, before posting a 6-4 victory at Toledo to clinch the doubles point against the Rockets. The duo is now 4-2 on the year.

The Vikings will continue the 2023 spring season with a trio of matches this weekend, traveling to Duquesne on Friday, January 27 and hosting Eastern Michigan and Ashland on Sunday, January 29.
