Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Selected Second In #HLTennis Preseason Poll

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2023 Horizon League Women's Tennis Preseason Poll was released Thursday afternoon, with Cleveland State tabbed to finish second in the competitive seven-team field. The preseason poll is voted on by the league's head coaches.

The Vikings, who enter the 2023 spring campaign as the reigning Horizon League Regular Season Champions, were selected as a top-three team in the #HLTennis Preseason Poll for the eighth time in the 11 years that a preseason poll has been released.

Cleveland State returns six of seven letterwinners from last season's team that advanced to the #HLTennis semifinals for the 12th straight year, including Horizon League Co-Freshman of the Year Oihane Vicario and All-League honoree Sima Heren

The Vikings are under the direction of fifth-year head coach Frank Polito, who was named the 2022 Horizon League Coach of the Year after leading Cleveland State to a 6-0 record in #HLTennis play – the program's first-ever undefeated league season.

Cleveland State will open the 2023 spring campaign next weekend with a pair of matches against Valparaiso (January 21) and Toledo (January 22), while the six-match Horizon League slate will begin in April.
