Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Closes Out Michigan State Invite

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team closed out play at the Michigan State Invitational Sunday, picking up five singles wins on the final day of play.

Tereze Vevere capped off a perfect 3-0 singles weekend on Sunday, earning a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory over Emma Davis from Marquette.

Freshman Ella Franz notched her first collegiate singles win on the final day of the Michigan State Invitational, posting a 6-1, 6-4 straight-set victory over Oakland's Nirva Patel.

The trio of Filippa Frogner, Bethany Yauch and Sima Heren also earned singles wins on Sunday, Frogner with a 6-3, 6-3 decision against Yasmin Glazbrook from Oakland, Yauch with a 6-3, 6-4 decision against Michigan State's Makenna Martinez, and Heren with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 decision against Valeriya Monko of Western Michigan. 

In doubles play, the Cleveland State duo of Franz and Frogner picked up the lone win on Sunday, earning a 6-0 victory against an Oakland duo.

The Vikings will now have the week off from competition, returning to the courts when they host the Viking Invitational Friday, October 14 through Sunday, October 16.
