EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team opened its fall campaign Friday, competing in the first day of action at the Michigan State Invitational.

Sophomores Sima Heren and Tereze Vevere both picked up singles wins for the Vikings on Friday, Heren earning a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 victory over Charlotte Gibson from Michigan State and Vevere posting a 6-4, 6-0 win against Northern Illinois' Mindy Horne.

Vevere also picked up Cleveland State's lone doubles win on the first day of action, as she teamed with Kiana Rizzolo of Western Michigan to pick up a 6-0 victory against a duo from NIU.

Action at the Michigan State Invitational will continue tomorrow, with another round of doubles and singles play slated.
