Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Closes Home Slate Against Milwaukee & UIC

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will return home for the final time during the 2022 spring season this weekend, hosting Milwaukee on Friday, April 15 and UIC on Saturday, April 16.

Last Time Out…
The Vikings remained perfect in #HLTennis play, picking up a 7-0 victory at IUPUI and a 5-2 win at Northern Kentucky. The two wins put Cleveland State at 3-0 in Horizon League action, with the Vikings standing as one of three teams to remain perfect in league play so far this spring.

This weekend's contests will close out a 14-match home schedule for the Vikings this season, with Cleveland State trying for wins seven and eight inside the MMTP this spring.  

Vicario Named #HLTennis Singles Player of the Week
Earlier this week, Oihane Vicario picked up her league-leading fourth Horizon League Singles Player of the Week honor. Last time out, Vicario notched a pair of wins at No. 1 singles, improving to 18-13 overall this season and 12-8 during dual match play.  

Yauch Records 20-Win Campaign
Bethany Yauch became the first Viking to record a 20-win campaign this year after picking up a pair of wins against IUPUI and Northern Kentucky last weekend. Yauch, who recorded the first 20-win season of her career, enters the weekend with a team-best 21-10 singles record and has won three straight matches. 

Mrcela Set For Final Match At The MMTP
Saturday's match against UIC will mark the final match at the MMTP for fifth year senior Klara Mrcela, who transferred to Cleveland State prior to the 2018-19 campaign. Mrcela has helped Cleveland State post a 25-13 record inside the MMTP during her time as a Viking, combining for 20+ singles wins at home during her career.  

Trio Enters Weekend Undefeated In #HLTennis Singles Play
The Cleveland State trio of Klara Mrcela, Tereze Vevere and Bethany Yauch enters the weekend with perfect 3-0 records in Horizon League singles matches so far this spring. For her career, Mrcela stands at 16-8 against league opponents in regular season matches, while Yauch owns a 10-5 career record and Vevere is playing in her first season of Horizon League action.
