Yauch Picks Up 20th Singles Win As Vikings Earn 7-0 Victory At IUPUI

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team improved to 2-0 in Horizon League play Saturday, picking up a 7-0 sweep at IUPUI.

"I thought we played pretty well today, and put together a great team effort," head coach Frank Polito said. "Our No. 2 doubles team was solid, giving us a boost from the start of the match. I also thought our singles play was strong up and down the lineup, giving us some momentum heading into tomorrow's match at Northern Kentucky."

The Vikings were able to pick up the doubles point on Saturday with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles from Selma Tounsi and Bethany Yauch and a forfeit win at the No. 3 spot.

After the Vikings gained a 2-0 lead with a forfeit win at No. 6 singles, Yauch put Cleveland State up 3-0 following a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles. The win was her 20th singles win of the season, marking her first 20-win campaign at CSU.

Cleveland State's clinching point came from Sima Heren at No. 3 singles then, as she earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory, before Oihane Vicario was able to pick up a 6-4, 6-4 win at the top of the lineup for the 5-0 advantage.

The Vikings were also able to pick up wins at No. 2 singles from Klara Mrcela (6-4, 6-3) and No. 4 singles from Tereze Vevere (5-7, 6-4, 1-0(7)), closing out their third 7-0 sweep of the season.

Cleveland State will continue Horizon League play tomorrow (Sunday, April 10), traveling to Northern Kentucky for a 12:30 p.m. contest.
