Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Set To Close Out Non-League Play Against Niagara & Xavier

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will close out non-league play this week, hosting Niagara on Wednesday, March 23 and traveling to Xavier on Sunday, March 27.

MATCH #16
Cleveland State vs. Niagara
Wednesday, March 23 | 6:00 p.m.

MATCH #17
Cleveland State at Xavier
Sunday, March 27 | 3:00 p.m.

Wednesday's match against Niagara will be the lone home contest during the month of March for the Vikings, as Cleveland State is slated to play four matches away from the friendly confines of the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion during the month.

Last time out, the Vikings traveled south to the state of Florida for their annual Spring Training Trip, taking on No. 62 FGCU.

Sophomore Bethany Yauch picked up a singles win against the Eagles, and currently owns a team-best 10-5 record this spring. In addition, Yauch also has a team-high 17 singles wins on the year – one of four Vikings to reach double-digit victories this season.

Joining Yauch with 10+ singles wins so far this season is Sima Heren (11), Tereze Vevere (14) and Oihane Vicario (15).

In doubles action, Selma Tounsi and Yauch have a team-best 8-5 dual match record, playing all matches at the No. 2 position, while Sima Heren and Klara Mrcela have posted a 7-5 mark at the top of the lineup.

Following Cleveland State's 17-match non-league slate, the Vikings will begin Horizon League play in April, featuring a six-match schedule. Cleveland State will host Oakland (4/1), Milwaukee (4/15) and UIC (4/16), while traveling to IUPUI (4/9), Northern Kentucky (4/10), and Youngstown State (4/23).
