FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team returned to action Tuesday morning, dropping a 6-1 match against #62 FGCU. Tuesday's match marked the first contest for the Vikings in over a week, while it also marked their lone match of their annual spring training trip.

"This was a great match for us to see where we stand against a tough opponent at the midway point in the season," head coach Frank Polito said. "We battled up and down the lineup in singles play today, and we know that we need to work on capitalizing when we are able to get leads late in matches. Bethany did a great job of keeping her focus and battling back after losing her first set to pick up a win on her court. It was great to get some practice time outside and we are looking forward to getting back home for our next match against Niagara."

Cleveland State's lone point of the day came from Bethany Yauch at No. 6 singles, as she earned a 4-6, 6-1, 1-0(7) three-set win over FGCU's Alba Retortillo. With the win, Yauch improved to 17-9 overall this season, and became the first Viking to reach 10 singles wins this spring.

The Vikings will return to action on Wednesday, March 23, when they host Niagara at 6:00 p.m. inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
