CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued its spring campaign Saturday, dropping a hard-fought 4-3 match against Buffalo.

"This was a tough match for us today, we were close and definitely had our chances to pull it out with a few three-set matches," head coach Frank Polito said. "We definitely need to work on improving our doubles play, as that was the key point in today's match. We now have a quick turnaround before we are back on the courts tomorrow, but we will be ready for another tough match against a quality MAC opponent in Bowling Green."

Despite dropping the early doubles point, Cleveland State's No. 2 team of Selma Tounsi and Bethany Yauch earned a 6-2 victory, picking up their team-best seventh win of the spring campaign.

The Vikings were then able to even the score to begin singles play, as Sima Heren notched a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the No. 2 spot.

Cleveland State gained a 2-1 advantage with the next singles point then, as Yauch posted a 7-6(4), 6-3 win at No. 5 singles. With the win, Yauch now stands at a team-best 15-7 overall this year and 8-3 in dual matches.

The Vikings then gained a 3-1 lead from Oihane Vicario, as she notched a 7-6(10), 6-4 victory at the top of the singles lineup.

Although the Vikings held a late lead, Buffalo was able to storm back, picking up wins at No. 4, No. 6 and No. 3 singles, earning the 4-3 victory.
