Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Adjusts Buffalo/Bowling Green Schedule For This Weekend

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will close out the month of February at home this weekend, hosting Buffalo on Saturday, February 26 and Bowling Green on Sunday, February 27.

Schedule Change
Due to the forecasted weather throughout Northeast Ohio and Western New York, Friday's match against Buffalo has been moved to Saturday, February 26 with first serve set for 10:00 a.m. inside the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion. Sunday's match against Bowling Green is still as scheduled. 

Vikings At The MMTP
This weekend's matches against Buffalo and Bowling Green will mark the final two matches of Cleveland State's current six-match home stand, as the Vikings have played seven of their eight matches at home during the month of February. Overall this season, Cleveland State is slated to play 14 matches at the MMTP, a place where the Vikings own a 23-11 record over the last four years. 

Yauch Leading The Way
Entering the weekend, sophomore Bethany Yauch owns a team-best 7-3 singles record this spring, while she also has a team-high 14-7 record overall this year. Yauch has won five out of her last six singles matches, playing at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.  

…Yauch & Tounsi On The Doubles Court
Bethany Yauch is also part of Cleveland State's top doubles team, as Yauch and Selma Tounsi have teamed up for a team-best 6-3 record at No. 2 doubles this spring. For the year, Yauch and Tounsi own a team-best seven doubles wins, and have won three straight matches heading into this weekend. 

#HLTennis Weekly Honors
Throughout the first five weeks of the 2022 spring campaign Cleveland State has captured two Horizon League Singles Player of the Week honors and two Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week accolades. Both of Cleveland State's Singles honors came from Oihane Vicario, while Klara Mrcela/Sima Heren and Bethany Yauch/Selma Tounsi each picked up a doubles honor. 

2022 Spring Schedule
After playing 10 of their first 12 matches at home throughout January and February, the Vikings will hit the road for the majority of March, as Cleveland State is slated to play four of its five matches away from home. During March, the Vikings will be closing out their 17-match non-league slate, before opening their six-match #HLTennis schedule in April.
