Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Falls To Cincinnati, 6-1

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued its current home stand on Sunday afternoon, dropping a 6-1 match against Cincinnati.

"This was another tough match today, but we fought hard throughout the doubles and singles lineups," head coach Frank Polito said. "We had chances for the doubles point, and moving forward this season we need to take advantage of those chances. Despite getting out to a slow start in singles we were able to battle back and make it competitive throughout the second sets. We now know what we need to work on over the next week as we prepare for another tough weekend slate against Buffalo and Bowling Green."

Despite dropping the early doubles point, Cleveland State's No. 2 team of Selma Tounsi and Bethany Yauch earned a 6-4 win over Cincinnati, picking up their team-leading sixth doubles win of the spring season.

Klara Mrcela picked up Cleveland State's lone singles win of the day, earning a 6-3, 6-7, 1-0(6) victory over Cincinnati's Cassie McLay at No. 3 singles. The win marked Mrcela's second win of the spring campaign.

Cleveland State will close out the month of February at home next weekend, hosting Buffalo on Friday, February 25 and Bowling Green on Sunday, February 27.
