Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Sweeps #HLTennis Weekly Awards For Second Straight Week

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second straight week the Cleveland State women's tennis team has swept the weekly Horizon League awards, as Oihane Vicario picked up back-to-back Singles Player of the Week honors, while Bethany Yauch and Selma Tounsi earned Doubles Team of the Week accolades.

Last week, this trio helped the Vikings to a 2-1 record, picking up a pair of wins against Western Michigan and St. Bonaventure before falling to Big 12 Opponent West Virginia.

Once again playing at the top of the singles lineup, Vicario went 2-1 on the weekend, improving to 9-6 overall this year. The freshman picked up a 6-3, 6-4 victory against Western Michigan and a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0(8) win against St. Bonaventure, before dropping a hard-fought three-set match against WVU.

So far this spring, Vicario is tied for the team-lead with a 3-1 singles mark at the top of the lineup.

Cleveland State's No. 2 doubles team of Yauch and Tounsi posted a perfect 3-0 record on the weekend, remaining undefeated this spring with a 4-0 mark. The duo opened the weekend with a 6-3 victory over Western Michigan and a 6-2 win over St. Bonaventure, while closing out the weekend with a 6-3 win against West Virginia.

Overall this year, Yauch and Tounsi own a team-best 5-2 doubles record.

Two weeks into the spring campaign, this trio has helped the Vikings get out to a 3-1 start, marking the second time over the last three years that Cleveland State has won at least three matches through its first four contests.
