INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the first weekly tennis honors of the 2022 spring campaign Wednesday, with Cleveland State sweeping both the Singles Player and Doubles Team of the Week. Oihane Vicario was named the Singles Player of the Week, while Klara Mrcela and Sima Heren earned Doubles Team of the Week honors.

This trio led the Vikings to a season-opening 4-3 victory at Dayton last weekend, with the match marking the first collegiate dual for Vicario and Heren. 

Playing at the top of the singles lineup, Vicario posted a 7-5, 6-1 victory against Dayton, notching the first dual match singles win of her collegiate career. For the season, Vicario now has a 7-5 singles record, including a 1-0 mark at the No. 1 spot.

Mrcela and Heren teamed up for a 6-4 victory at the top of the doubles lineup against Dayton, helping the Vikings sweep all three doubles matches. This marked the first time that Mrcela and Heren were in the doubles lineup together.

This trio and the Vikings will continue the 2022 spring season this weekend, hosting Western Michigan and St. Bonaventure on Saturday, January 29 and West Virginia on Sunday, January 30.
