Cleveland State Women’s Tennis Set For Rocket Invite

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team will return to action this weekend, participating in the two-day Rocket Invite hosted by Toledo on Friday, October 29 and Saturday, October 30. 

The Field
Cleveland State will be one of three teams competing this weekend, joining Bowling Green and Toledo. 

Last Time Out…
The Vikings hosted their annual Viking Invitational, with Bethany Yauch and Selma Tounsi both posting perfect 3-0 singles records on the weekend. This marked the first home appearance for the freshman group of Filippa Frogner, Sima Heren, Tereze Vevere, and Oihane Vicario, while it marked the first time that fans have been permitted in the MMTP since the 2019-20 season. 

So Far This Season…
Sophomore Bethany Yauch leads the team with a 5-1 singles record, while Sima Heren and Selma Tounsi both have 4-2 marks on the year. Filippa Frogner, Tereze Vevere and Oihane Vicario all own three singles wins through the first two tournaments of their rookie campaigns. 

Fall Lineup
This weekend's Rocket Invite will be the third of four scheduled events for the fall, as the Vikings are also slated to compete at the WMU Fall Invite November 12-14.

Head Coach Frank Polito
The Vikings will be under the direction of head coach Frank Polito who is entering his fourth season at the helm and 10th season overall with the program. During Polito's tenure, the Vikings have captured three Regular Season Horizon League titles and have made two #HLTennis Championship Match appearances.
