Due to the conditions created by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Milwaukee will not allow spectators at any home matches during the 2021 campaign.
Last Time Out…
Cleveland State extended its current win streak to seven straight matches, picking up back-to-back wins against Northern Kentucky. With the two wins against the Norse, the Vikings improved to 6-4 in Horizon League play, while also improving to 6-0 over the first three weeks of April.
2021 Horizon League Schedule
This year's Horizon League schedule has had a different look to it, as the Vikings are facing the same opponent in back-to-back matches each week. During the 2021 campaign the Vikings have hosted three #HLTennis series, while this weekend's trip to Milwaukee will be the third road trip of the year in Horizon League play.
Vasilescu Picks Up Third Straight #HLTennis Weekly Honor
Earlier this week, Miruna Vasilescu picked up her third straight #HLTennis Singles Player of the Week honor after posting a 2-0 record at the top of the singles lineup against Northern Kentucky. Vasilescu, who is the only league player to earn multiple weekly honors this season, extended her current singles win streak to 13 straight matches, improving to 15-2 overall this season an 10-0 in league play. So far this season, Vasilescu has notched 14 of her 15 wins in straight sets, including all 10 of her Horizon League victories.
Quartet Perfect During The Month Of April
Entering this weekend's series at Milwaukee, the quartet of Blanche Lenoan, Klara Mrcela, Miruna Vasilescu, and Bethany Yauch are undefeated in singles play during the month of April – with all four of them owning a perfect 6-0 record over the last three weeks. Playing at the top four spots in the lineup, this group has combined for a 24-0 record in league play during this stretch, while they own a 31-9 league record on the season.
Avram & Lenoan On CSU Doubles Wins List
After picking up a pair of wins at No. 2 doubles against NKU last weekend, Kateryna Avram and Blanche Lenoan moved into a tie for sixth on the CSU Team Doubles Wins List with 23 victories as a tandem. For the season, Avram and Lenoan have a team-best 13-4 doubles record, including an 8-2 mark in league play.
2021 #HLTennis Tournament
Entering this weekend's series at Milwaukee, the Vikings are currently third in the league standings, with the top four teams advancing to this year's #HLTennis Tournament. A pair of wins against the Panthers would guarantee the Vikings the No. 3 seed next weekend, while a 1-1 or 0-2 weekend leaves the door open for the Vikings to finish fourth or fifth. The 2021 semifinals are scheduled for Saturday, May 1, while the championship match is slated for Sunday, May 2.
