Vikings Continue Play At UB Fall Invite

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued play at the UB Fall Invite Saturday, with strong doubles play leading the way for the Vikings.

"We had another solid performance in doubles play today, both teams played with a lot of energy and really focused on their game plan throughout the match," head coach Frank Polito said. "In singles, Blanche and Kate played some great matches for us today, and are continuing some solid tennis this fall. We have one more day of the fall season left tomorrow, so we will need to bring our A game and have a good mindset as we face some Big Ten competition."

Cleveland State went 2-0 in doubles play Saturday, with the duo of Klara Mrcela and Lara Prosenjak earning a 6-2 victory and the tandem of Gaby Schoenberg and Kateryna Avram posting a 6-4 win.

Mrcela and Prosenjak improved to 2-0 this weekend, while they also have a team-high 6-2 record this year.

Avram also picked up one of two singles wins on the day for the Vikings, as she earned a 7-6(6), 6-2 victory over Bowling Green's Marta Bettinelli.

Cleveland State's other singles win came from Blanche Lenoan, as she posted a 6-0, 7-6(5) win over Laura Silveira of Bowling Green to improve to a team-best 6-4 this fall.

The Vikings will close out the UB Fall Invite and their fall season tomorrow (Sunday, November 3), with one more round of doubles and one more round of singles.
