Doubles Play Leads The Way On Day Two Of Viking Invitational

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued action at the Viking Invitational Saturday, posting a perfect 3-0 doubles record on the day.

"I thought we played really well in doubles again today, up and down the lineup we were playing aggressive and making things happen," head coach Frank Polito said. "Although we didn't have the strongest day in singles, I thought we played well in spots on all six courts. Moving forward, we need to work on sustaining this throughout our singles matches and focusing on what we need to do."

The Vikings swept their doubles matches on Saturday, picking up all three wins against Akron. Klara Mrcela and Lara Prosenjak improved to 2-0 on the weekend with a 6-3 victory, while Prinkle Singh and Blanche Lenoan also remained perfect after battling for a 7-6(5) win.

The final doubles win on the day came from the duo of Gaby Schoenberg and Kateryna Avram, as they notched a 6-2 victory.

Cleveland State's lone singles win on the day came from Avram, as she earned a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Xavier's Kaitlin Ruether.
