WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The third-seeded Cleveland State women's tennis team battled for a 4-1 victory over No. 6 Northern Kentucky Friday in a Horizon League Tournament First Round match, earning a spot in the #HLWTEN Semifinals tomorrow.

"This was a tough match today, with some tough weather conditions, but I thought the team played really hard and fought from start to finish. I think No. 1 doubles played some really good doubles today, and they set the tone getting up early and then getting the first win for us. No. 2 and No. 3 doubles were able to feed of off their match and battled all the way through to allow us to come away with the tough doubles point. It was nice to see Jana set the tone in singles as a senior then, and put us up 2-0 with her win. We were in battles on all other singles courts, and they continued to fight and never gave up. Blanche played a tough first set and then rolled in the second set, before Ana came through with a huge three-set win on her court to clinch it for us. Now we need to get ready for Youngstown State tomorrow, and prepare for a quick turnaround and another tough match tomorrow." – Associate head coach Frank Polito

· The Vikings are advancing to their 12th Horizon League semifinal appearance, and their ninth straight.
· Cleveland State now stands at 15-18 in Horizon League Tournament play over the last 16 seasons.

· With her win at No. 4 singles, Jana Schober notched her 48th career victory, and is now just two wins shy of recording 50 career singles wins.
· With their 6-2 win at the top of the doubles lineup, Aleksandra Golawska and Isabella Spindler are now in sole possession of second place on the CSU Career Doubles Wins List with 39 career wins as a tandem.

· Cleveland State was able to pick up the early doubles point Friday, earning a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles from Aleksandra Golawska and Isabella Spindler and a 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles from Gaby Schoenberg and Jana Schober.
· Jana Schober put the Vikings up 2-0 after a straight-set win at No. 4 singles, posting a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Taylor Culbertson. For the season, Schober is now 16-12 in singles play.
· Blanche Lenoan picked up the next singles point for the Vikings, putting Cleveland State up 3-1 with a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. With the win, Lenoan improved to 12-11 this spring.
· Cleveland State's clinching point came from Anastasia Perin at the No. 6 spot, as she notched a 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 victory.
