BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued play at the Hoosier Classic Saturday, picking up two singles wins and two doubles victories.
"I thought we played pretty well today, we competed in all of our matches and it was another good day for Viking Tennis," associate head coach Frank Polito said. "Morgan was able to pick up her first collegiate win today, and it was good to see her get the W after seeing her come up just short in her previous matches. We have one singles round left to play tomorrow, so we will see what we can come away with on the final day of action."
Freshman Morgan Nix picked up her first collegiate singles win Saturday, earning a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Cincinnati's Ali Miller. With the win, Nix earned a spot in the Flight 2 consolation championship match tomorrow.
Victoria Bensimon also picked up a singles win for the Vikings today, posting a 1-6, 6-4, 10-4 win over Katya Bure of Cincinnati. Bensimon will now play in the consolation championship match of the Flight 3 singles.
Cleveland State's two doubles victories came from Mathilde Orange and Katy Quillin, as they picked up a pair of wins in consolation play. Both of their wins came as 7-6 (5) decisions, the first over a duo from Cincinnati and the second over a team from Marquette.
The Vikings will conclude play at the Hoosier Classic tomorrow (Sunday, September 27) with one round of singles.
