AKRON, Ohio – The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued play at the Akron Shootout Saturday, posting a pair of singles and doubles wins.
"I thought we played better today than yesterday, and definitely improved on some things that we noted in yesterday's matches. We looked great in doubles action which is good to see, and is hopefully something that we can continue improving on," associate head coach Frank Polito said. "We had a lot of fight in all of our matches today, and we competed until the very end on all of the courts."
The Cleveland State duo of Morgan Nix and Victoria Bensimon notched their second straight doubles win on the weekend, picking up a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles against an Akron duo, while Princess Gbadamosi and Mathilde Orange notched a matching 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles against the Zips.
In singles action, Cleveland State's two wins came from the junior duo of Gbadamosi and Bensimon. Gbadamosi earned a 6-4, 7-5 victory against Annina Brendel of Youngstown State at No. 1 singles, while Bensimon posted a 6-4, 6-2 win against YSU's Nehel Sahni at No. 4 singles.
