ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team won its third straight match Sunday evening, and remained perfect in Horizon League play, as the Vikings claimed a 5-2 victory at Oakland.

"This was a good league win for us today against a much improved Oakland team," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We played some good doubles, but got off to a slow start in singles play. Despite the slow start, the team stayed the course and finished the job to come away with the victory. The top of the singles lineup played really well for us today and pulled out some good points for us. I am happy to come away from this weekend roadtrip with two victories, and hopefully we can add on to that next weekend."

For the second time in league play the Vikings were able to get out to an early 1-0 lead after picking up the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Alex Bush and Princess Gbadamosi teamed up for an 8-3 victory at the No. 2 spot, and Kara Sherwood and Victoria Bensimon earned an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Cleveland State was then able to sweep the top half of the singles lineup for just the third time this season, as Lauren Golick, Bush and Sherwood captured victories at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 spots, respectively. All three Vikings captured their second singles wins of the weekend, while Golick and Sherwood improved their league records to 3-0 in singles play.

Golick cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win at the top of the lineup, while Bush earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles and Sherwood claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 singles.

CSU's final point of the day came from Gbadamosi at the No. 5 position, as she earned a 6-4, 6-3 victory – her team-best 15th singles victory of the season.

The Vikings will return home next weekend, hosting Youngstown State and Duquesne. CSU will open the weekend against Youngstown State on Saturday, April 5 and then host Duquesne on Sunday, April 6.
