DEKALB, Ill. – The Cleveland State women's tennis team picked up three singles wins, but came up short against Northern Illinois, falling to the Huskies, 4-3 Saturday afternoon.
"This was another tough match for us, we are playing well but we just need to play the big points a little better," assistant coach Frank Polito said. "Everyone keeps working hard in practice, and focusing when they are on the courts during matches. If we keep doing what we are doing, we will be fine come league play."
Cleveland State's three points on the day came from singles play, as Alex Bush, Mathilde Orange, and Ellen Folkers picked up wins. Bush earned a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (4) victory at No. 3 singles – bringing her within one win of 50 for her career.
Orange posted a 6-4, 6-1 straight-set victory at No. 5 singles, while Folkers followed suit with a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles (7-6 (12), 6-1).
The Vikings will close out the weekend at IPFW tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 9), facing the Mastodons at 10:00 a.m. A link for live scoring is available on the women's tennis schedule page on CSUVikings.com.
