MUNCIE, Ind. – Cleveland State women's tennis senior Alex Bush posted the Vikings' lone point of the day with a victory at No. 4 singles, as CSU fell to Ball State, 6-1 Saturday afternoon.
"I thought we had some good battles today, and we were able to make some comebacks in a lot of the matches, but that was all we could muster up," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Our doubles play continues to improve and we are making strides every time we take the court during the doubles matches. Alex Bush was the highlight of the day, picking up our lone point, and she has been a good senior leader throughout the beginning of the spring season. This isn't the start that we were hoping for, but the team is going to stick together and keep working hard every time they take the court and be prepared for the next match."
The CSU doubles team of Kara Sherwood and Alex Bush picked up a win at No. 1 doubles Saturday, recording a 6-3 victory over the Ball State duo of Bethany Moore and Courtney Earnest.
Alex Bush also picked up CSU's lone singles win, as she posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Toni Ormond at No. 4 singles. The win was Bush's 48th of her career, as she is now just three wins shy of cracking to the top-10 all-time wins list at Cleveland State.
The Vikings will continue their spring schedule next weekend, traveling to Northern Illinois (Saturday, Feb. 8) and IPFW (Sunday, Feb. 9).
