CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State remains in seventh place overall following day two of the Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships at Busbey Natatorium on Thursday evening. The team was led on day two by Lesley Jones, who took home an eighth place finish in the 50 freestyle (24.54 in prelims, 24.41 in finals).

In the team standings, Green Bay leads all with 320 points and is followed by Wright State and Milwaukee, who are tied for second with 292. Cleveland State (90 points) remains in seventh overall of the eight schools.

"With only two exceptions, we had all of our best times today," head coach Wally Morton said, "Lesley Jones is swimming great this week, and she had two of her best ever times today in the 50 free."

Jones was the team's top individual placer for the day with her eighth place in the 50 free. She also contributed the the Vikings' 400 medley relay team (Sandra Bunker, Deanna Raedel, Katie Bellew, Jones) that finished sixth overall (4:01.47).

Senior Trisha Simon also scored points for the Vikings, notching a 197.65 (195.0 in prelims) in the consolation finals of the one-meter dive, good for 12th overall.

"Trisha just started diving last year, and to be 12th after only about a year and a half of diving is a tremendous accomplishment," Morton said.

Morton summed up the day. "I liked the team support, and almost everyone swimming their best and giving their best. In my opinion, that is the true definition of a winner," he said.

Action resumes Friday (Feb. 22) morning, with swimming prelims at 10:30 a.m., diving prelims at 2:00 p.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m. at Busbey Natatorium. Video broadcast of the final rounds (6:00 p.m.) will be available through the Horizon League Network (at CSUVikings.com) with full commentary.
