Cleveland State University swimming & diving added Mikala Schmidt from Marion, Iowa. Schmidt swam for Linn-Mar High School and the Linn-Mar Swim Team.

Schmidt was a state qualifier in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events and was a member of the fifth-place 400-yard freestyle relay. She won multiple MVC awards along with All-Metro honors.

Schmidt was a sectional and state qualifier for her club team and finished second at the state open water 3K in 2022.

Schmidt is the daughter of Jeffrey and Melissa Schmidt and will be majoring in biomedical engineering.
