Cleveland State Women's Swimming & Diving Splits Double Dual, Eichel Secures NCAA Zone Cut

GAMBIER, Ohio – Cleveland State split their double dual on the road Friday afternoon, defeating Oberlin, 219-75, and falling to Kenyon, 239-61.

"We just wrapped up our fourth competition in six days," said head coach Hannah Burandt. "I couldn't be prouder of the team's ability to be competitive, show grit, and still execute well. This wraps up our winter "staycation" and we can now shift our focus to fine-tuning for our senior day and Horizon League Championships."

The Vikings started the day off by winning the 200-yard medley relay as Audrey Butcher, Ella Ciez, Haley Palmer, and Grace Chelf finished in 1:47.88.

Brooke Eichel won 1m diving with an NCAA Zone Cut of 268.50 points. She went on to win 3m diving with 240.05 points.

In the 1000-yard freestyle, Olivia Leonard finished third with a time of 10:57.79.

Chelf came in third during the 100-yard backstroke after touching in 59.31.

The 200-yard backstroke saw Chelf (2:06.63) finish as the runner-up and Alaina Brown (2:10.44) come in third.

Chelf placed second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.63 and Brown came in third with a time of 2:10.44.

The Green and White concluded the day with a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Chelf, Palmer, Madison Taker, and Ana Sofia Sousa clocked a 1:38.15.

The Vikings will have their final tune-up before the Horizon League Championships on Friday, Jan. 26 against Oakland for senior day at 4 p.m.
