Cleveland State Women's Swimming & Diving Opened Season at Miami (OH)

OXFORD, Ohio – Cleveland State opened the 2023-24 season with a 237-61 setback at Miami (OH) on Saturday afternoon.

"We have so much to be proud of today, individually and collectively," said head coach Hannah Burandt. "We had moments that really stood out including Brooke winning 3-meter, and Gracie's anchor leg on the 400 freestyle relay. I'm really pleased with how our upperclassmen led the team today, athletically, and culturally, and how our underclassmen stepped up with assertiveness and competitiveness. This season is going to be fun and exciting for the Vikes."

Cleveland State won its lone event during 3M diving as Brooke Eichel put up 213.45 points.

Madison Taker had a pair of runner-up finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:41.68) and 500-yard freestyle (5:15.10).

The Green and White capped off the day with a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Ella Ciez, Haley Palmer, Ana Sofia Sousa, and Grace Chelf clocked a time of 3:36.94.

The Vikings return to the pool for the Alumni/Intersquad Meet on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 11 a.m. Following that meet, Cleveland State will welcome Bowling Green for an 11 a.m. dual.
