Cleveland State Women's Swimming Claims Two HL All-Academic Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Horizon League announced the 2022-23 Women's Swimming All-Academic Team, with Cleveland State claiming two spots. Rachel Contich and Ana Sofia Sousa were each selected to the team for a second straight year.

"We strive for excellence in all we do," said head coach Hannah Burandt. "These two represent just that: excellence in life, school, and in the pool. I'm very proud of them and am happy we get to celebrate them! Go Vikes!"

Senior, Rachel Contich put up a 3.92 GPA as an accounting major to earn academic recognition for a second straight season. Thus far at Cleveland State, Contich has been named to the Dean's List four times and President's List three times. At this year's championship, Contich won the B-final of the 200-yard freestyle. In addition, Contich reached the podium in four events during the past two seasons.

Junior, Ana Sofia Sousa registered a 3.69 GPA as a marketing major to gain academic honors in consecutive seasons. In the classroom, Sousa has been named to the Dean's List five times. At this year's championship, Sousa turned in two runner-up finishes; 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle.
