CLEVELAND, Ohio - Cleveland State University swimming & diving coach Hannah Burandt announced the second addition for the Class of 2023, Ella Ciez.

Ciez is from Uniontown, Pa., and swam at Laurel Highlands High School. In her time, she broke several pool records while qualifying for WPIALS and States. As a senior, Ciez was named a team captain.

"I chose Cleveland State because the campus is in a beautiful city, which I loved. I also felt an instant connection with the coaches and my future teammates."

Outside of the pool, Ciez maintained high honors all four years and was a member of the Spanish and SADD Club.

Ciez swam for Uniontown Area YMCA, qualifying for nationals on a few occasions.

Ciez plans to major in either criminology or journalism. She is daughter of Heather and Frank Ciez.
