CSU Teams Earn CSCAA Honors for Eighth Straight Semester

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Cleveland State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both named Scholar All-America Teams for the fall semester in a recent announcement by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

The women's team finished with a 3.55 grade point average in the fall semester while the Viking men finished with a 3.18 grade point average. The women's program tied for the highest GPA in the Horizon League.

It is the eighth consecutive semester in which both programs have claimed Scholar All-America honors.

Junior Erica Henrichsen and freshman MaKennah Fitzgerald led the way in the classroom for the Vikings by each posting 4.0 grade point averages in the fall term.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the previous semester.

The Vikings had 26 student-athletes named to the Horizon League Fall Academic Honor Roll last month across the men's and women's programs. The CSU men led the HL in Honor Roll selections in their sport.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA—the oldest organization of college coaches in America—is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.

Cleveland State will resume action Feb. 19-22 at the Horizon League Championships at Oakland.
