CLEVELAND, Ohio- The Cleveland State women's swimming and diving team competed in the Second Annual Magnus Cup on day one at Busbey Natatorium.  The Vikings tallied 398 points on the day.

Madisen Tretter led the Vikings threw the day in the swimming events.  Tretter got second in the 50 yard breast. Tretter eclipsed a meet time of 29.54, but Madison Day of Xavier out touched Tretter with a time of 29.48 to take first. "She is swimming great, "said a very pleased Morton.  Tretter also had a very solid split time in the 400 medley relay (1:03.53).

Diving was the first finals swim event of the day as Sammie Sposet finished second in the 1-meter dive, with a score of 244.70.  The Vikings finished first in the 200 freestyle relay to begin the finals swimming events (Elbadry, Pallijia, Kopacko, Johansson) with a top time of 1:34.91. In the 50 yard freestyle Alex Johansson finished runner up with a time of 23.76.   
 
To finish the day off, the Vikings finished second in the 400 Medley Relay with Johansson, Tretter, Miller, and Elbadry posting a time of 3:52.68. Jodi Turk and Beth Robertson had key contributions on day one for the Vikings.   
 
"Overall I am extremely happy that the men are in first, and are battling with Buffalo.   Meets like this we have mixed results.  For the most part the team is swimming very well and pleased with the overall performances, "said Morton.
 
The Vikings will be back in the pool tomorrow for day two of the Magnus Cup, with prelims beginning at 9:00 a.m. and the finals starting at 5:00 p.m.
