Cleveland, Ohio- The Cleveland State Vikings' women's swimming team went a perfect 4-0 Tuesday night, taking home big victories at the Cleveland College Dual Meet Invitational at Cleveland State. The Vikings took down Canisius, Case Western, John Carroll, and Notre Dame (Ohio).
While multiple CSU swimmers were able to pick up wins, a familiar group led the way in the victory column, with multiple swimmers bringing home solid performances in the victories.
Freshman Jodi Turk continued her impressive development in her rookie season, bringing home two wins. Both wins came in dominating fashion for the freshman as she won the 500 freestyle (5:09.49) by 12 seconds, and the 1,000 freestyle (10:32.03) by an incredible 24 seconds.
"Someone who's been real consistent all year is Jodi Turk," Morton said, mentioning the freshman among the top performers. "She's established herself as an outstanding distance swimmer."
Senior Alice Sommerville also had great swims for CSU, coming off her performances at the AT#T Winter National Championships last week she was able to pick up three wins on the evening, two individual and one relay. Individually she won the 50 freestyle (23.66), and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.63), and teamed up with Jamie Puls, Gretchen Hestley, and Christine Kopacko to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:36.94).

"Alice Sommerville is one of the greatest swimmers in the history of our school," Morton said. "Real solid times for Alice coming off the U.S.A. Nationals, we've gone back to really serious training."
The Vikings will be off from competition for just about a month following the meet tonight, and Morton is happy where the team is at at this point in the season.
"I think we've had a really successful year, we've had an outstanding fall semester and I'm really excited," Morton said. "The team has been really solid and has been training at a high level, if we win the practices we'll do well at the meets."
The team will be back in the pool at the start of the New Year, January 5th at the Bob Mowerson College Forum meet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
