Amanda Macenko is quite simply the best pictcher in the Horizon
League and one of the top throwers in the midwest. The reigning
two-time Horizon League Pitcher of the Year, she overwhelms
opponents at the plate with an array of pitches that feature good
movement and speed changes. She still has room to improve however
as she continues to learn the nuances of the game and understand
the art of pitching. Once just a flame-throwing right-hander, she
has learned the importance of changing speeds and hitting spots.
Look for her to once again throw the lion's share of innings in an
effort to lead CSU to another league title.

Is second in strikeouts (692), needing 217 to catch the record, and
is second in appearances, 16 shy of the mark. . . holds the top
three single season win totals in school history, including a
record 28 in 2009.
2009 - JUNIOR Season
Repeated as Horizon League Pitcher of the Year and named to the
All-Great Lakes Region first team after going 28-14 with a 2.57 ERA
. . . threw a school-record 275.0 innings, ranking third in school
annals with 267 strikeouts while walking just 50. . . also set
season marks for games started (48), complete games (34). . led the
league in wins, strikeouts, innings pitched, games started and
complete games. . . named Pitcher of the Tournament at the Horizon
League Championship after going 4-1 with 30 strikeouts in 30
innings. . . had double figure strike out totals in eight games,
including a career-high 16 vs Detroit (4/9). . . was named Horizon
League Player of the Week three times, raising her career total to
10, tying UIC's Samantha Iuli for the league record. . . swept road
doubleheaders at Butler (4/4) and Detroit (4/9) and won all three
home games in series with Youngstown State (4/17-18). . . earned
her third letter.
2008 - SOPHOMORE Season
Garnered first team All-Horizon League, League Pitcher of the
Year and second-team All-Great Lakes Region honors after setting
CSU season records for starts (38), complete games (35),
appearances (46), innings pitched (273), saves (3) and tied own
record with 26 wins. . . appeared in 46 games, starting 38. . .
went 26-14 overall with three saves and a 1.44 ERA. . . hurled 272
strikeouts. . . led league in eight categories including ERA
(1.41), innings pitched (243), wins (24), opponent batting average
(.198), batters struck out (243), batters struck out looking (67),
appearances (42) and starts (34). . . ranked third in Horizon
League saves (3). . . went 2-2 with 29 strikeouts in four
appearances at Horizon League Championship, garnering
all-tournament honors. . . three-time League Pitcher of the Week
(2/19, 4/7, 4/28). . . one of only two pitchers in CSU history to
win 50 games. . . first pitcher in CSU history to win 20+ games in
consecutive seasons. . . multiple listings among NCAA Division I
pitching leaders including walks allowed (7th), victories (26th),
saves (40th), ERA (45th) and strikeouts (82nd). . . struck out 12
and allowed just three hits in seven innings in win over UMBC
(2/16). . . struck out 12 in a loss to Pennsylvania (3/13) in six
innings of work. . . recorded 12 strikeouts with just two hits
allowed in a 3-1 win over Army (3/15). . . picked up10 strikeouts
in nine innings of work in loss to Butler (4/5). . . used 10
strikeouts in seven innings of work to get past UIC (4/19). . . won
20th game of season against Toledo (4/23) during five innings of
work and allowed just three hits. . . struck out 11 batters in a
5-3 win over Loyola (4/26). . . earned seventh 10+ strikeout game
and 25th pitching win of the year against Green Bay (5/8) in a 4-3
victory that included 10 strikeouts in nine innings of work.
2007 - FRESHMAN Season
Garnered second team All-Horizon League honors after setting a
school record with 26 wins and 227.1 innings of work. . . appeared
in 41 games, starting 31. . . went 26-10 overall with two saves and
a 1.79 ERA. . . hurled 153 strikeouts. . . led league in wins. . .
went 3-2 with 21 strikeouts in six appearance at Horizon League
Championship, garnering all-tournament team honors. . . three-time
league Pitcher of the Week.
High School
Earned first team All-Ohio accolades as a senior, going 19-4 with 289 strikeouts and a 0.35 ERA. . . hurled five perfect games among her seven no-hitters. . . surrendered just five walks in 161 innings of work. . . also hit .400 with four home runs. . . conference MVP. . . second team All-Ohio honoree in 2005, posting 15 shutouts, 303 strikeouts and 10 walks, while hitting .360. . . three-time all-conference performer and a two-time all-district pick.
