After emerging a year ago as one of the top long ball hitters in
the midwest, Lia Gordon is out to do it again and finish her career
with a second Horizon League title. She will most likely be used as
the designated player again this year, allowing her to focus her
total concentration on hitting the ball and taking advantage of
scoring opportunities. One of the league leaders in just about
every statistical category, she is a threat to drive in a run every
time she steps to the plate.
2009 - JUNIOR Season
First team All-Horizon League choice after setting a school
record with 13 homeruns. . . led the league in homeruns, ranked
second in walks (27), third in RBIs (39), fourth in total bases
(96) and 14th in batting average (51-153, .333). . . led team with
17 multiple hit games and had seven games with multiple RBI. . .
named to the all-tournament team at New Mexico State after hitting
.429 (6-14) with two homeruns, seven RBI and seven runs scored in
five games. . . went two-for-three with four runs scored, hitting a
grand slam in a 7-0 win over Elon (2/8). . . named Horizon League
Player of the Week (2/26) after hitting .417 (10-24) with three
homeruns, eight runs scored and nine RBI in eight games to open the
year. . . drove in four runs in win at Detroit (4/9). . . went
two-for-two with a walk and a career-high five RBI vs. Youngstown
State (4/17). . . was three-for-three with four RBI in win over UIC
to send CSU to the championship game (4/8). . . was two-for-seven
with an RBI in two NCAA games. . . earned third letter.
2008 - SOPHOMORE Season
Starter in 21 of 23 games she played. . . hit .137 with seven
hits, one double and five RBI. . . went 2-for-3 vs. IPFW with one
run scored (4/22). . . recorded two RBI in 1-for-2 performance with
two doubles vs. James Madison (2/15).
2007 - FRESHMAN Season
Played in 29 games, starting 18 as the designated player. . .
hit .327 with 18 hits, four homeruns and 12 RBI. . . belted three
home runs in six games at the Horizon League Championship,
including a walk-off in the bottom of the ninth to clinch win
against Butler (4/11). . . earned a spot on the all-tournament
team.
High School
Second team All-Ohio selection as a senior, hitting .486 with 35
RBI, a school-record eight home runs and a .943 slugging
percentage. . . four-time first team all-conference selection at
catcher. . . led team to a berth in the Division III state
semifinals in 2005, hitting .419 with seven home runs and a .579
slugging percentage. . . team MVP as a sophomore. . . also was an
all-district and all-conference selection in volleyball.

Born Sept. 9, 1988... daughter of George and Debi Gordon...father was a two-year letterwinner on the Youngstown State rifle team. . . has an older sister, Amanda, who played volleyball at Lake Erie College...National Honor Society. . . communication major.
