Natalie DeMatteis joined the Viking coaching staff as a
volunteer assistant in 2010 after a spectacular career in a CSU
uniform.
A career .294 hitter, DeMatteis earned Horizon League Tournament
Most Valuable Player honors as a senior after she led CSU to the
first-ever championship title in program history. She started all
94 games she played in, recording 78 hits, 32 runs, 12 doubles, two
homeruns and 137 put-outs in her two seasons as a Viking.
During her senior season she played in 50 out of the 53 games,
with a .366 average, ranking second on the team with 52 hits. She
hit two home runs with 20 RBI, which was fourth best on the
team.
As a junior she played in 44 games, hitting .211 with 26 hits,
four doubles and five RBI and was also perfect in stolen bases,
with a career best six.
Before beginning her career at CSU, DeMatteis played at
Mercyhurst North East where she was a two-time first team
all-conference selection. She also earned National Fastpitch
Coaches Assocation All-American first team honors during her
freshman season.
DeMatteis left Mercyhurst holding career records for batting
average (.532), hits (107) and runs (73).
DeMatteis plans on graduating with a degree in health sciences from Cleveland State.
